What have I been doing since high school? During my high school years I really didn't have a lot of close friends because I had to work. I worked in places like The Falcon's Nest, Chicken's Drive-In, Channel Pharmacy Snack Bar at Market Street and Sheldon Road. I was a licensed Beautician before I was a junior in high school. So my junior and senior years I went to school half a day and worked the other half in beauty shops.
I remember in my freshman year, Linda Burroughs and I did a skit (called little space girl) for our freshman initiation and everyone liked it so much they had us do it again our sophomore year. We were both so shy I don't know how we did it. (If anyone has any pictures of the skit I sure would like copies.)
In August 1969 I married my first husband; we lived in Channelview, West Lake, Louisiana, and Keni, Alaska before settling in Anacoco, Louisiana in March of 1970. I went to work at Fort Polk, Louisiana, in April 1970. I worked at the service station at South Camp. I started out pumping gas and ended up being the office clerk. One day while working at the pumps I looked up and Johnny Simpson and Daryl Hartless were walking towards me. I couldn't believe my eyes it was so good to see them.
In August of 1972 I moved back to Channelview and then in October was blessed with a son. I divorced my first husband in 1973. I then went to work for a while at East Way General Hospital as the emergency room clerk before I landed a job with Pettigrew Distributors (distributors of Burdon’s Milk) where I worked for five years.
In 1975 I started dating my now husband (thanks to Helen Dworsky's going away party when she left Channelview Bank). My now husband were married in April of 1976. In 1979 we were blessed with a daughter and I took a year off to spend with her and my son. In 1980 I went to work for the Sentinel Newspaper in accounting where I worked there for nine years. Then I took a little more than a year off to just be a mom and wife. I then went back to work at Wal-Mart in 1991 and worked for eleven years, (I started out as a cashier, then worked in Toys (loved it) and then I was a day stocker in ladies wear). In 1993 I hurt my neck and had to have surgery to fuse one level, I was not able to return to work until 2000. Later in 2000 I had to have another surgery to fuse three more levels in my neck and haven't been able to work since. Both my children graduated from Channelview High School. My husband and I moved to a senior apartment complex almost three years ago because the house was too much for us to take care of. WHO AM I??? I'm Linda Hall.
